Pamela Mary Huntbach Was born in Aberystwyth in 1925
Although her parents lived in Basford (Newcastle under Lyme not Leek)
Her mother, who was Welsh,did not trust an English doctor and had all her children in Wales!
After a local education Pamela went to the highly respected Burslem School of Art
Where she was taught by both Reginald Haggar and also Gordon Forsyth.
Coincidentally, whilst there she formed a lasting friendship with Eve Midwinter
Who later in life became Pamela’s daughter’s mother in law.
During the war she served in The Red Cross at Sandon Hall for convalescing
Soldiers. After the war she taught art at a Primary School.
1950 married Tony Wade and as well as being full time mother to
Jeremy, Richard and Susannah did some designs for Wade in 1960s including
Charming wall plaques of the Nursery Rhyme Wee Willie Winkie fulfilling her great love of children’s book illustration for which she showed a natural talent.
It is also thought that she did the design for the ‘Ballet’ range in the 1950’s.
In 1977 she illustrated The Staffordshire Cook Book for the charity SSAFA ( Soldiers,
Sailors, and Airmen’s families) And she incorporated a Staffordshire knot in every illustration!
Her great love of art continued throughout her life and her legacy lives on in the beautiful pictures she has left behind.
