The history of the Wade business is now somewhat contested. It has long been claimed that the firm was founded in 1810 but if you read Dave Lee’s ‘Wade Dynasty’ you will see that this is not possible.
What is not in doubt is that the Wade business grew to become a household name and has brought joy to huge numbers of collectors around the world from so many generations.
When Wade Ceramics went into administration in 2022 if was a huge shock to so many people and also meant that the Wade Collectors club also closed.
From the family’s point of view we were all so incredibly sad that the Wade name would no longer be making pottery in Stoke. I agreed with my father, Jeremy, that I would work on a museum style website to celebrate evertythihn Wade and make sure there is a permanent place online to find the full Wade story.
