My name is George Wade, and I am the great-grandson of Sir George Wade, who helped build Wade into one of Britain’s best-known ceramic manufacturers.
Growing up, Wade was always part of my family’s story. I developed a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship, innovation and creativity that made the company one of the most respected ceramic manufacturers and one of the best-known names in the Stoke-on-Trent pottery industry.
Following the company’s closure in 2022, I felt it was important that the remarkable history of Wade was not lost. I was incredibly proud to re-establish George Wade & Son Ltd., not to recreate the original company, but to preserve its heritage and celebrate the people, designers and creations that made it so special.
This website has been created as a living museum and historical archive for collectors, historians and anyone with an interest in Wade ceramics. It brings together the stories behind the people, products and milestones that shaped the Wade name over more than a century. As new research, photographs and discoveries emerge, the archive will continue to grow.
Much of the material published here draws upon family archives, original company records, published research and previously unseen photographs.
One of the proudest achievements of this new chapter has been bringing Ivy back into production in Stoke-on-Trent to mark her 75th anniversary. Created in partnership with C&S Collectables, this special edition marks the first time in almost four decades that the Wade family has been directly involved in the production of a new Wade figure. The project has been undertaken on a not-for-profit basis, with all profits donated to The National Brain Appeal, a charity that has become deeply important to me following my own diagnosis and treatment for two brain tumours.
This website is also a tribute to my father, Jeremy Wade, whose lifelong passion for Wade and dedication to the collector community inspired me to continue preserving our family’s history. His enthusiasm and support helped keep the Wade story alive for collectors around the world.
