Jeremy George Wade   1952 – 2025.

Jeremy was born on 14 March 1952, the eldest son of Tony and Pamela Wade and later became the older brother of Richard and Susannah. He was born at the Fanny Deakin Nursing Home in Newcastle-under-Lyme before attending Elmhurst Primary School in Market Drayton.

A young Jeremy Wade with his father’s Jaguar XK140 around 1956. He would later buy the car back, and it remains in the Wade family today.

He then attended Old Hall Preparatory School in Shropshire before following in his father’s footsteps by moving to Oundle School in Northamptonshire at the age of 13.

After leaving school, he returned to Staffordshire and trained with a leading firm of accountants in Stoke-on-Trent. He also spent time at the Wade works with his father and grandfather, but Tony was keen for Jeremy to forge his own career rather than feel obliged to join the family business, as he himself had done.

Although very capable, Dad never developed a real passion for accountancy, and it was never destined to become his long-term career. Instead, he soon established his own successful business as a classic car dealer.

I will always be eternally grateful to my father for fuelling my passion for collecting Wade and supporting my love of the family history. We all miss him but know he would be so proud of this website and project. It is just sad he didn’t get to see it!
